Flying-foxes live near the coast in the Daintree NP. They feed on fruits, flowers and nectar and are similar in size to a possum, not small like the microbats. On dusk they can be seen flying in large numbers across the skies to the trees that they feed on during the night. They travel to different destinations according to where there is abundant food. This one is a Spectacled Flying-fox.Ever since digital cameras became available I have been using them to take natural history pictures. I set out to see how many differnt species I could photograph and identify, and to try and understand how each creature fits into its given habitat. I made this website to display some of the things I've seen. The images were taken in various parts of Australia and noted in the labels. My identifications may not all be right, please dont hesitate to comment if you think i have it wrong
